Virgil van Dik: Liverpool captain to sign new deal

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dick has signed a two-year deal with the club.

The previous 33-year-old midfielder’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season.

But the Dutch has contacted Mohamed Salah, who was extended last week for two years, in his future compliance with the club.

“He’s always Liverpool,” said Van Dijk, who joined Paris Saint-Germain.

“That was something. It was always on my head, it was always the plan and Liverpool were always.

The Dutchman, who has made 314 appearances for the Reds, was appointed Liverpool captain in 2023 after Jordan Henderson left.

“There was no doubt that this is the place for me and my family,” Van Dick said.

“I’m one of Liverpool. Someone who called me a summary a day ago – I’m really proud to hear these things, give me a lot of feelings.

“A proud feeling is a feeling of joy.

“The journey I have ever had in my career, so that I can extend the club in two years and I am very happy,” he said.
