Stephen Davis: ‘Khere’s really good candidates’ for Northern Ireland captain

Former Northern Ireland midfielder Stuart Dallas, who won 62 cups for his country, was included in the famous hall alongside Davis on Sunday.

He believes O’Neill will “make something special” with the current product of the World Cup qualifiers in September, in which the NI will face Germany, Slovakia and Luxembourg.

“This is a completely new team. Michael has returned to the pitch for the second magic and has lost a lot of experience,” the Spaniard said.

“What you are doing now are a provocative team coming to the Windsor Park, and you enjoy watching Northern Ireland.

While Dallas, who had to retire in April 2024 with a knee injury, was enthusiastic about the young squad, but believes expectations must be calmed because many players change their first World Cup qualifiers.

“I think the team is in good hand, it’s a stimulating young team that can achieve something real, but you can’t put a lot of pressure on them.
