Teams will meet again in England in the first leg of this year’s World Cup, which gave more attention to Saturday’s six nations.
“He always plays in Scotland and Wales, doesn’t matter what sport, whether it’s a male or female sport,” said Brown Brune.
“There is close geographical closeness, but where we beat us as a team.
“We have three home games at home – Wales, Italy and Ireland – three teams close to us close to us, who are close to our ability and also have progress and development with professional development championships in the tournament.
“It’s really healthy for the sport, but it’s very good for us, because every time we go into the competition, we come to show ourselves against the teams that are right next to us, pushing professional and quality.
“Welz is a great opportunity for us to go out and start well at home.
On Saturday at the Hyev Stadium in Edinburg is a chance to hit a psychological blow before the first World Cup in Salford, but the Scots only focus on the delivery of six strong nations that are forced to provide a crossing board to the world championship this summer.
“We have a good game, we have a good squad,” said Thomson, who represented GB weeks at the Paris Olympics last year.
“We first raised Wales and then from a remote to France. Last year, it pushed France not to close (in the 15-5 defeat in Edinburgh), but we know that France is a different animal at home.
“As a group we have mentioned that we only focus on this tournament. We Wales is the first time of six nations, Wales at first at the World Cup, but we have done that before.
“We are only waiting for a good game on Saturday.
