The Spanish prosecutor’s office is expected to appeal a court decision that canceled the rape of former Brazilian international Danny Alves.
Alves, who wins Barcelona three times, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for raping a young woman in a Spanish nightclub in 2022.
But on Friday, the Barcelona Court of Appeal lifted its preliminary decision due to disagreements and opposition to Alves’ trial, referring to inconsistency.
The court ruled that there is no evidence to prove its guilty without reasonable suspicion.
The Court of Appeal also said that his “different” testimony was arrested in video footage and that he and Alves entered the bathroom, where he claimed that he had forced him to enter the sexy sex.
Catalan prosecutor’s office confirmed in a statement that it plans to challenge the decision but did not give further details.

In response to the Court of Appeal’s decision, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Barcelona on Monday in a protest organized by feminist groups. They carried many signs that he condemned the decision “unacceptable” and called for the cancellation.
Deputy Prime Minister Maria Jesus Montero said it was “shamed” that the testimony of an rape “ank was still questioned” and “it is said to be hypothetically innocently overseeing the testimony of young and brave women.
He then apologized on Tuesday and explained that he did not intend to “relate to innocent hypothesis. But he stressed that the decision of the Court of Appeal to cancel Alves’s sentence represents “a step backwards.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who has established himself as a feminist, is a priority to combat sexual violence. His administration reformed the country’s criminal law in 2022 and redefined all sexes as rape.
The legal change came in response to the case of an 18-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted by five men during the San Fermin’s Ranning Festival in Pamplona by five men.
Alves, now 41, was arrested in January 2023 after being arrested in January 2023 and remained in custody until March 2024, when he was released on bail of 1 million euros (853,000 pounds) while waiting for the appeal.
