Oliver Glasner has won the Crystal Palace FA Cup to the club’s fans – and says it will take time to win Wembley on Saturday to sink.
Palace beat Manchester City 1-0 to win their first 120-year trophy to secure a place in Europe.
More than 30,000 South London fans celebrated in a wildlist at the National Stadium in Ful Time – and Glasner quickly praised those attached to the team.
Palace failed to win any of their first eight Premier League games this season, losing 5-2 to Manchester City and 5-0 in Newcastle in April.
But they will end the season with the FA Cup in the Cellus Park and Glasners’ cabinet, which in 2021-22, Eintracht Frankfurt for the Europa League, could begin planning another Europa League campaign.
“No one was waiting for Frankfurt to win the Europa League and nobody expected Crystal Palace to win the FA Cup,” Glasner said.
“You can know what you get when you are patient.
“As football players and managers, the biggest success is not to lift the trophy. It’s giving tens of thousands of our fans for their lives. It gives them great time.
“They may have some problems at home so just to make them happy… We did for our fans.
Asked about how he felt how he felt after becoming the first manager to offer a big trophy for the palace, Glasner added: “For me, the strange thing is that I feel empty.
“I’ll start understanding that tomorrow or Monday. The crazy thing is that we have to think about Wolves on Monday.
“Before we wanted to write our history and we have written a big page in our history, and next year when we play in Europe, we will do it again.
“We have great characters, such togetherness, work ethics, the environment and a strong atmosphere, and this is fundamental to achieve impossible things.
