
After his appointment in November, Amurim said he wanted to take it at the end of the season but immediately accepted the appointment after being told “Now or never.
The Portuguese acknowledges that there were moments that he had asked whether he should be braver in conversation with United CEO Omar Berada over the initial request to be transferred from Sporting at the end of the campaign.
“If you ask me four months ago, with all these problems, I may have a feeling that I have to be stronger and say I will start at the beginning of the season,” he said.
“But today, I feel like something that will help us in the future.
“We are suffering a lot here. There is a lot of boredom but I feel, at this moment, maybe because we are near the end, this is the most important time, perhaps, in the next few years.
“We are going to use all the information to prepare ourselves better in the next few years, so I don’t regret it.
