London’s Hesro Airport announced a complete closure on Friday due to a “signable power outage” due to close fires, causing widespread damage to one of the world’s busiest travel centers because flights were forced to return from ventilation or change to other places.
“To protect the safety of our passengers and our colleagues, Hesro will be closed until 23H59 on March 21 to protect the safety of our passengers and our colleagues,” Hecero said in a statement.
“We expect significant breakdown in the coming days and passengers will not travel to the airport under any circumstances until the airport will be opened,” the airport told CNN.
A change in a power plant in the city of Hais, a neighborhood of London, only a few miles from the airport, caught fire on Thursday night. The cause is still unknown.
Dozens of firefighters were at the scene overnight and 150 people evacuated. According to the Scottish and southern electricity networks, more than 16,000 households have lost electricity.
The videos posted on social media have shown that the big flame and the smoke of rising to the air will rise early Friday.
“While we are going to the morning, there is an increase in cuts, and we ask people wherever they can stay away from the area,” the deputy commissioner Pat Goulborn said in a statement.
“We know that this will be disappointed for the passengers and we want to assure him that we are working hard to resolve the situation as much as possible,” the airport told CNN.

Destruction of a big journey
The closure of the car can affect tens of thousands of tourists. According to the latest reports, Hesro was the world’s fourth-wide airport in 2023, which exceeded 83.9 million passengers last year.
It spreads in five terminals, located 14 miles in western London, usually operating with a capacity of 99%, each of which passes the main airline, which means it is always very busy.
“Hesro is dealing with about a million passengers a day. That’s about 1,300 flights a day,” aviation analyst Joffrey Thomas told CNN. “We have hundreds of trips in the United States, in Southeast Asia, the Middle East – they are all in the sky now.
Serium is estimated to have a passenger that can affect “all 145,000” passengers.
Until early Friday, the airport’s website showed several plans to be supported or dissolved, although others are still like “expected” on the list.
The British passenger told CNN on Friday that he and his friends were taking off at JFK airport New York when they heard the news.
Christine, who refused to give her final name but showed her travel evidence, said the British flight on British Airways was ready to leave when the pilot said they had asked him to detain him for a while. Half an hour later, the passengers were told that Hesro was closed and another trip that had previously returned to the flight route – left them trapped on the asphalt.
“The mood is somewhat calm on the plane, it’s surprising. They only came to the surroundings to feed us, but with a wedding in the UK to attend Saturday: “I really hope you are not stuck until then!”
According to the Flightradar24, more than 1,350 flights will not be released from Hecero on Friday. When the announcement came, there were 120 flights in the sky. They had to be removed to other airports or return to their initial places.
Thomas added that while short domestic flights can go back, it is not an option for remote international flights. There are several other airports near London, including Gatweek and Standard Airport, but they are probably “cause”, which means that deviant flights must move forward to find an alternative place for landing — than in Glasgow or Adinburg.
And that can create another problem. Other airports, some of which are smaller and less expensive than hecero, do not have the necessary equipment to deal with the large number of passengers on their way.
Thomas said that while the authorities are competing to control the fire and travel through the flag, they face difficult questions, including why such an important journey and an economic center could not interfere in a background source.
This is a developed and renewed story.
