Leicester City captain Jamie Vardy has described the season as a “mistake” and a “complete responsibility” after their departure in the Premier League.
Leicester’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool confirmed on Sunday that they had immediately returned to the tournament, or in the past three seasons.
“No words that I can never express my feelings of anger and sadness are like this season. There is no excuse,” Vardy wrote on social media.
“Because we have been at this club for a long time, we have experienced very high and success – and this season has nothing but misfortune and for me in a special way, it will hurt, and I know you will feel that.
“For fans: Sorry. Sorry we haven’t shown.
Vardy was part of Leicester, who won the Premier League in 2015-16, before reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2016-1
Leicester are 19th in the Premier League on 18 points from 33 appearances.
They were not lucky enough to be the manager in November after the appointment of Rudd van Nistelroy, and now the foxes cannot be equivalent to the 34 points that have fallen two years ago.
Vardy has made 496 appearances for Leicester since 2012 when he joined Leicester.
He has scored 18 goals, as Leicester won the tournament last season, but has scored just seven in the league this season.
