Eddie Hoo says his recent illness was “severe” but he is very happy to have returned to the top of the Newcastle United against Ipswich on Saturday.
The 47-year-old was admitted to hospital with pneumonia and has not played in the last three games.
Jason Tendal and Grayme Jones’s assistant are responsible for their victory over Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa’s losing to the last time.
“I’m fine, I’m not 100% in my body, but I would like to think that I was very close to 100% in my mind, which is the most important thing.

“I see it’s very tight and we may go to the end of the season to five main places. I think we have put ourselves in a very strong situation. Pic.twitter.com/xekwpi9toq

“It’s been difficult for the past few weeks. I’m trying to take a positive from every experience. I think it’s really important, but this has been a real challenge because we consider your health normal – I certainly exist.
“When you don’t have the luxury to feel normal, it can be very difficult, so I definitely gone through a set of feelings. Thank God, I feel like I’m healing, the most important thing.
“I’m very happy to be here. The staff behaved and acted completely, so a real tribute to them and now I’m back.
Hoo says when he fell ill to get completely away from his role and not stay in touch with Tendal and his staff.
“I made a zero relationship. I made a conscious decision when I didn’t feel well to focus on football so that Jason and all the coaches would give Jason’s full responsibility because for me, you or all of them or everyone else and I couldn’t.
“The surveillance I received from NHS was completely first. I can’t thank them enough. They were completely bright, the care and love I felt.
– And of course the hopes and short letters I had received from everyone. I have tried to answer everyone around everyone, it takes a while!
“I really appreciate and I am very grateful.”
