
Aurelio da Silva Pereira, the legendary scatte responsible for identifying Cristiano Ronaldo’s talent in the early years of his life, has died.
Pereira saw Ronaldo for the first time while playing for Nacional in Madeira. At the age of 12, Ronaldo was brought to Sporting by Pereira, where he quickly rose to Manchester United.
Pereira’s influence on Portugal’s football is much greater than Ronaldo. During his career in Sporting, he played a key role in finding several key talents, including Luis Figo, Ricardo Quaresma, William Carvallo, Paulo Futre, Roy Patricio and Nani.
Ronaldo went to the X social media platform to honor the man who helped start his professional work. “One of the world’s largest football symbols has left us but his inheritance lives forever.
“I never stood up for all the things he did for me and for many other players.
Sporting also issued an official statement that commemorated Pereira’s long and influential action as Skut.

Born on October 1, 1947, Barcelona midfielder has joined Sporting CP to play football and then left to join Football Benfica to become a coach.
“He returned to the club to coach young teams for nearly 20 years. In 1988, he created him and became responsible for his appointment and his story has been more than well-known ever since,” he said.
“He found many of the greatest national talents and brought him to Sporting, where they grew up and then moved to the world’s largest stages.
“From Paulo Futra, to Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo, but also the youngest talent, Aurelio Pereira is very responsible for the career of several national football figures over the past 40 years.
“He was the leader in his career and he was someone who was watching,” he said. He received two ‘Stromp’s and ‘Golden Lions’ Awards, and in 2012, the club named the Sporting Academy and the main training ground.
