Carlill United: Mark Hughes in talks to stay as president in the national term

Hughes was brought to Brunton Park in February after Mike Williamson was sacked, five points from Carselle and 18 remaining.

But Wales couldn’t get out of the problem with the best run-of their form – 10 points from four games – they reached when they were close to it was too late.

While he was desperate to do what was brought to him, 61-year-old Hughes says he enjoyed his time from Cambridria and is open to relegation to fifth place.

“It was difficult and we and we didn’t get what we intended to do,” he said.

“But I really enjoyed my time here.

“The part that I really enjoyed and only in the tent and the opportunity to run a team through difficult games and difficult situations is what makes me do.

“It’s what I miss when I’m out of the game.
