Sources of Southon Moodedist targets Maryland Sports Director Daimon Evans as a sporting director.
No deal has been settled, but sources expect Evans to accept that role. He replaces Rick Hart, who helped SMU’s instructions into the Atlantic Coast Conference last year. Evans, a former Georgian sporting director, has been in Maryland since 2014 and has been advertising the school since
SMU recently rented J. Hartzelli in Texas to become his new president. Hartzel appears to have fled Texas sporting director Chris del Conte, who kept the rumors in February.
The SMU runs in Evans is especially interesting to Maryland, while the talk continues to circulate around Vilanova’s attention to the basketball coach Kevin Williard. Maryland instructed the end of the regular season in the Big Ten and fourth in the NCAA. The Terapins are scheduled to play the Grand Canon 13 seeds on Friday afternoon. Williard has previously spent 12 seasons in the Great East in Seton Hall, and sources have said he still has a strong relationship with the conference.
If Evans leaves, it is unclear who will be a temporary advertisement and what he can have on the deal with Williard.
