While Arsenal are disappointed in the result, Sleigers is confidence in the ability to create so many opportunities against the European elite.

“You’re concerned about the amount of opportunities,” former Liverpool striker Natasha Dawy told BBC 5 live.

“It will be a different game if you lose these opportunities and lose. It’s very different from not getting that chance,” he said.

Lyon has only been sitting in nine Champions League games this season, while they will remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament.

But former Arsenal defender Asante, who won the European Union’s Women’s Cup – as it was called – in 2007, believes Gunners could cause trouble.

“The Arsenal Stadium’s record has been broken in the UAE, but the opposite can happen for them,” he said.

“You can go to Lyon and cause trouble. The good thing is to know they can overcome the ball. It is now related to clinicals.

Lyon coach Joe Montimouru, who has managed Arsenal for three and a half years in 2021, has said he is “surprising” after leaving the club and insisted he will remain in a semi-final equality.

“I’m just admiring 40,000 people in the UAE, a beautiful football game, a vision. That’s what I’m very happy with, I’m very happy that since I left, there have been three or four years of amazing development.

“It’s not over yet. This is not over. The pressures may have been removed from Arsenal, maybe.

“They have fallen 2-1, they come to Lyon. Whatever happens, it happens. That’s a dangerous scenario and they are a good team.
