“We have been very impressed with Alan since he was seized for the second time as the observing coach,” said football director Richard Montagy.
“It was important that we conducted a detailed process to appoint our new president,” he said.
“We have to get this decision well and we are very happy with what they have done and we are sure that we have chosen the best president to bring our club another level,” he said.
Shihan has always liked to play that role on a long-term basis, although he has repeatedly insisted that his ideas must be in line with the club’s opinion on the front line.
Former left-back Shihan joined Swansea in the summer of 2023 as Swansea’s vice president and joined the then sporting director Paul Watson, who knew him together at Luitton.
