US President Donald Trump has called on emergency forces to expand domestic production of important metals as he is trying to reduce US reliance on imports from countries such as China.
The executive order, which uses the Cold War Law, guides government agencies, including the Ministry of Defense, to prioritize mining projects and provide technical and financial support to increase the production of important minerals.

The decree also calls for accelerating permits for mining and processing projects, as well as the US Department of Interior’s guidance to put mineral production on federal lands.
Although it contains some important minerals, the United States relies on other countries to meet its needs.
