Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on Friday that Tehran does not need a proxy in the region and that the Yemeni Houthis, who are among groups in the Middle East, which Iran is parallel, works on their motives.

US President Donald Trump on Monday said Iran would hold Iran responsible for any attack by the Houthis, while its administration had expanded its largest military operation in the Middle East since it had returned to the White House.

Over the years, Iran has been with groups that have described themselves as the “Axis of Resistance against Israel and the US influence throughout the region.

The groups include Hamas, Lebanese Hezbollah and various Shiite armed groups in Iraq.

Khamenei, the Americans say, “For a big mistake and call it the centers of regional resistance, proxy.

“The Yemeni nation has its own motivation and resistance groups in the region have their own motives. Iran does not need a proxy,” Khamenei said.

“They are threatening, but “We have never started confronting or disagreeing with anyone. But if a person acts evil and takes the initiative, they will receive a harsh beating.

Experts in Yemen, which the Houthis controlled during the civil war, say the group is likely to motivate them mainly due to domestic concerns and support bases.
