Arteta was happy that his players improved in four days after qualifying for the Champions League at the Bernabeu.

“I think the first 35 minutes is one of the best 35 minutes we have played this season,” Arteta said.

“We have scored two goals (in the first half); We could have scored three or four goals to be fair.

“We really dominated the game. A very high density and understanding what we had to do today to win here.

“At that, when they got a red card, the context of the game changed and we were very controlled, we scored two more goals, we did some rotation, so in general a very positive afternoon.

As Paris Saint-Germain are considered, Arteta must now decide whether the starting line-up will be held for Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

“We have to put 11 players there and have four or five changes, so let’s see how they will recover in the next few days,” Arteta said.

“The good thing is that they are willing to play because they like rhythm in the same way,” he said.

“We’re used to the rhythm every three days, and then we don’t have a game at the weekend, so we have a gap there, so let’s see how we get to Wednesday,” he said.

On Portman Road, Arteta may have chosen midfielder with Paris Saint-Germain’s minds because Thomas Party will be hung for the first semi-finals.

The manager moved Dicklan Rice to a deeper role in midfield, with Michael Marino, who played as a temporary striker, and takes his natural position in the middle.

Leandro Trosard came forward and scored twice – and is ready to start against Paris Saint-Germain if necessary.

“Yes, he is definitely ready to play in any position,” the Spaniard said.

“We have to modify some, not because of the PSG but because of the situation we had with Thomas and several other players.

“But that’s good because the team shows some players the ability to adapt and universal to play in different positions. And that is very necessary, especially when we have the numbers we have now.
