2030 World Cup: Concacaf says 64 teams should not be considered

Concacaf President Viktor Montagliani has criticized a proposal to expand the 2030 men’s 2030 men’s 64 teams.

The plans presented by the South American Administration Board Conmebol, as well as the opposition of European Union President Alexander Severin and Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The tournament is being held by Spain, Morocco and Portugal after the start of the match in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

The 2026 World Cup, which is being held across the United States, Mexico and Canada, has already expanded from 32 to 48 teams.

But Conmibol said he wanted to increase his participants to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the competition.

“I don’t believe the expansion of the men’s World Cup to 64 teams will be the right step for the tournament itself and the wider football ecosystem, from national teams to clubs, leagues and players,” Montagliani said.

“We haven’t even started the new World Cup in 48 teams, so personally, I don’t think it’s expansion to 64 teams, even on the table.

Kocakaf is the board of directors in North America and Central America and the Caribbean.
