Tottenham manager Ange Postko hopes Mauricio Pochettino will return to the club one day, saying he has not felt “disrespectful” with the Argentine’s recent comments.
Pochettino, who managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019, had announced last month that he wanted to reunite with Spurs in the future.
He has played with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea since leaving north of London and was appointed president of the United States in September
Postkoglo became president in June 2023, making it the fourth time the club have completely determined since Pochettino, after Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.
“If he wants to come back one day, I hope it will happen to him,” Pochettino said.
“We all have dreams and aspirations. Do you suggest that he is trying to put pressure on me?”
Perse Coglo was asked whether Pochettino’s remarks were disrespectful because Australia’s future in Spurs is unknown and the club are sitting in the 14th place in the Premier League.
“I don’t feel disrespectful,” he says. “If you ask Maurizio directly, I think you will get a very clear answer about what he meant.
Pochettino remains a champion between some Tottenham fans after taking the lead in the 2016-17 Premier League season, the 2015 Cup final and the 2019 Champions League final.
He has been in charge of eight games for the United States but is already under pressure after losing three times, including a successive defeat to Panama and Canada last month.
The 53-year-old was admitted by the US Football Federation to slap before the 2026 World Cup.
