Nottingham striker Chris Wood will “better” but still doubt the injury to Manchester United’s visit to Tuesday.
Wood was injured in international mission with New Zealand earlier this month.
The 33-year-old, who has scored 18 goals in 32 appearances in 32 appearances this season, won Sunday’s quarter-finals against Brighton.
Forest coach Nuno Esperito Santo had hoped Wood would be suitable for United to visit United in the Premier League, but did not specify when the player would return at his press conference.
“That day will be better,” Nuno said.
“We must evaluate it day by day, everything is about being free and better. It’s a big knife, so it’s very painful.
Woods beat New Zealand 3-0 in New Zealand in the second half of the 2026 World Cup.
Forest City are third in the Premier League because they continue to push a place in next year’s Champions League and Wood has had an important part of their success this season.
Tayo Auni replaced the Talisman striker on Saturday and played for an hour before he was replaced, as Forest reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup by securing the penalty kicks.
