Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has revealed that he loves the thirst to score after scoring four more goals against Girona on Sunday and regaining their three points at the top of La Liga.
Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres strike and Ladislav Krijich’s 4-1 win at the Olympic Stadium, with four or more goals for 20 goals this season.
Flick has scored 139 goals in a total of more than three in each game — and has lost 20 in 20 games since the beginning of 2025.
“It’s our idea. We always want to play in crime, attack, create opportunities,” Flick told a post-game press conference. “If there is a possibility of trying and scoring goals, always try and score. That’s what I really love about my team,” he said. They always want to score.
“When we saw the counter-attack attacks we had, I saw not only the attackers but also the attacking players, and Frank de Jong, which was about 90 meters or something like that walking quickly, this is a mentality, the team’s attitude and goodness.
“I think everyone loves it, so that they can see more goals than normal and of course fans are happy now.
Lewandowski has won the tally for 38 seasons against Girona in all competitions, with more than 33 and 26 appearances for the Catalan giants in their first two seasons.
It also led to last year’s 25 goals, three goals from Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe in a race to win Pichichi — the La Liga top scorer award.
“This is good and that’s why we need it,” Flick said. “I know he wants to win Pechici and I’m very happy to have scored two goals today.
“When we win and when we score, the chance is much more than the chances, it’s important to focus on the team to help the team,” he said.
Lewandowski’s form has responded to any criticism of his ability to participate at the top level before his 37th birthday at the end of this year.
“I know there are a lot of people talking about my age, but I have been working since the age of 21, 22 years old and I want to play at the top more years,” Lewandowski told reporters. “I have a very good feeling physically. I think looking at the statistics is no different now for a few years ago.
“I do a lot of work as usual and I want to play at the top for a few years.
Barca beat Beckroona without Rafina, who was an unused alternative after returning from international mission with Brazil.
Flick has revealed that the Brazilian has not played because he has not been in good shape, but has expressed confidence that he could return to the second round of the semi-finals against Atletico Madrid, who draw 4-4 after the first game at Barcelona.
When asked whether Rafinha was injured, he said, “I think there are more distresses. “I talked to him in the first half and checked again if he could play and he was honest and said ‘the coach, I don’t feel well.
“Now we have tomorrow to recover and then we will train and hope he will feel better, so he may be ready for the game on Wednesday.
