Crescent Red Crescent says less than half of his ambulances work in Gaza

Geneva – Less than half of the Palestinian Red Crescent car ambulances work in Gaza due to lack of fuel.

IFRC spokeswoman Thomaso Dela Long told reporters that 23 out of 53 vehicles would remain in operation after providing aid to Gaza in early March, including fuel.

“It has a devastating effect. If there is no ambulance, there are all communities that communicate with emergency services and have no response,” he said.

IFRC said Palestinians who need daily health and those injured by a new wave of Israeli air strikes on the Inklav area are affected by a shortage of vehicles.

After two months of relative peace, Israel has effectively abandoned a ceasefire and launched a new air and ground operation against the Palestinian militant group in Gaza.

On Tuesday, more than 400 Palestinians were killed, one of the deadliest days of the 17-month conflict, according to Gaza health officials.
