Heather Knight has been sacked as an England captain after the club’s 16-0 defeat to Australia.
Knight has been in this position since 2016, but has overseeed a difficult winter, winning a series of South Africa between a disappointed T20 World Cup campaign and a gray journey full of turmoil in Australia.
Coach John Lewis was sacked on Friday after reviewing the trip to England manager in the women’s cricket.
The 34-year-old took the lead in eight appearances, making 94 international appearances, 96 or 20 appearances, winning 134 in 199.
“I love to be an England captain, that’s the most rewarded period of my sporting life,” Knight said.
But for now I hope I will focus on the beating and support of the team and the new captain in the best way I can.”
He will only be ready to choose England as a player, but the England and Welsh Crickets (ECB) have not yet confirmed who will replace him.
Nat Skyver, Bront and Emmy Jones have both replaced Knight when he was una sympathetic, while Charlie Dean, who has left the player away from home, has been adjusted as a permanent candidate.
The summer of England begins with a white ball series against West Indend, which begins in May before they face India in June and July.
